View Answer GEHA: GEHA does not currently cover the costs of Silver Sneakers or other gym/health club memberships. However, GEHA medical plan members do have access to a discount program for gym memberships through Active&Fit Direct. The Active & Fit Direct program provides access to a broad network of participating fitness centers at a cost well under market prices. To enroll in the program, or view a list of participating facilities, please log in to your member web account . The Active&Fit link is at the top of your member dashboard. Winston-Salem, North Carolina (GEHA Standard Option): Am I covered to receive the new Shingrix vaccination under the Standard Option even if I had the old shingles vaccination two years ago? View Answer GEHA: Yes, that is not a problem. Clinically, you may have received the Zostavax and then receive Shingrix at a later point. San Antonio , Texas (GEHA High Option): I am a retired Federal employee and have had GEHA High Option for many years. Why doesn’t it cover my diabetic supplies such as my test strips and needles for my tester? View Answer GEHA: Per the pharmacy benefit for GEHA primary members, diabetic supplies (including needles, insulin and meters) are covered. El Paso, Texas (GEHA Standard Option, Connection Dental Plus): We are building a 6-month survival kit. How can we get the medicines we need to store away for an emergency? We realize we would need to rotate them with our newer prescriptions to keep them fresh. View Answer GEHA: The GEHA benefit allows for an extra supply of medication(s) in certain emergency situations such as being called to active duty. In the event an emergency situation is not occurring, the GEHA pharmacy benefit will allow refills to be obtained once 80% of your current prescription has been used. San Antonio, Texas (Connection Dental Federal (FEDVIP) High): Am i responsible for charges that the dentist charges over the negotiated price? View Answer GEHA: If your dentist is an in-network provider, you are not responsible for the cost over the negotiated price (fee schedule allowable). If the provider is out of network, you are responsible for the difference between the provider’s billed charge and the fee schedule allowable (negotiated price). Columbia, South Carolina (GEHA Standard Option): Does the medical plan cover anything toward wisdom tooth extraction? Thank you!! View Answer GEHA: Yes, wisdom tooth extractions are covered under your plan. For impacted wisdom teeth, the services would be subject to your $350 calendar year deductible. Once met, GEHA will pay 85% of the plan allowance. For wisdom teeth that are not impacted, GEHA will pay $21 for each extraction. Budd Lake, New Jersey (GEHA Standard Option, Connection Dental Federal (FEDVIP) Standard): What is the frequency at which I can order CPAP supplies? Also, am I covered for a second CPAP machine for travel purposes? View Answer GEHA: Typically the CPAP supplies are one per month. However if more supplies are needed, this can be reviewed by our Durable Medical Equipment (DME) team. Under the plan, we will only cover one CPAP for home use. Washington, District of Columbia I am a biology researcher and have recently come from Japan to the US to take my current job in NIH. I have joined one of your health insurance plans, but I do not even know the name of the plan I chose. I recently have a problem in my left ear and would like to see a doctor. However I do not know how I can find an ear-nose doctor or a general practitioner who is close to where I live. Please help! View Answer GEHA: Welcome to the United States! You should have received an enrollment card from the medical benefits plan that you selected. If you are unable to find the card, the benefit officer in your agency should be able to assist. Most medical plans, including GEHA, offer a provider search feature on their website. Click to use GEHA’s online provider search . Barrigada, Guam (Connection Dental Federal (FEDVIP) High): What has GEHA done to recruit in-network providers on Guam, and do you have any providers currently that are in network? View Answer GEHA: Thank you for your question. GEHA considers all providers outside of the United States as in-network. Any medical claim submitted from a provider on Guam will be paid as in-network. However, I would like to know more about your dental plan for both myself and my spouse. Is this a possibility? You have just a GEHA dental plan and purchase your medical coverage with another carrier. (Or, in your case, stick with Medicare for now.) Savannah, Georgia (GEHA High Option): Will payment be taken out of my retirement monthly pay or allotment? View Answer GEHA: Your best bet is to check with your retirement office to confirm from where the payment will be taken out of. Las Cruces, New Mexico (GEHA High Option): When I do a search for doctors on the GEHA website, are all doctors listed covered by GEHA? View Answer GEHA: GEHA’s provider search tools do provide a listing of participating providers. However, the continued participation of any doctor, hospital or other provider in the GEHA network cannot be guaranteed. Shreveport, Louisiana (GEHA Standard Option): Is a CAT scan covered with the GEHA medical plan I have? View Answer GEHA: Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT) scans require precertification by which you, your representative or your doctor must contact eviCore Healthcare before scheduling the procedure. The toll-free number is 866.879.8317. Or your provider can make a request on the eviCore website ( evicore.com ).
